25 Feb ACAS publishes advice on flexible working

On 30^th June 2014 the right to request flexible working was extended to all employees who have worked for their employee for 26 weeks or more. ACAS has published a new Code of Practice and Guidance on that right to request flexible working.

The new Code is practical guidance and designed to help employers consider any requests in a reasonable manner and stay within the law.

The guide includes advice on:

• How employees can make a request to work flexibly;
• How to manage requests fairly;
• How to handle a request to work flexibly and what to consider.

The guide also assists in avoiding discrimination.

There is a published standard form for employees to use when making a flexible working request.
